Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) refers to manufacturing support provided to OEM electronics companies.
Depending on the program, EMS may include engineering review, PCB fabrication, component sourcing, PCB assembly, programming, inspection, functional testing, box build, supply-chain coordination, and ongoing production support.
What files are needed for an EMS manufacturing quotation?
Typical quotation files include a BOM with manufacturer part numbers, Gerber files, Pick & Place data, assembly drawings, required quantities, and applicable programming or test requirements.
Additional documentation may be required depending on the product and manufacturing scope.
Do you support prototype and NPI builds?
Yes. We support prototype, engineering validation, NPI, pilot-run, and production programs.
The manufacturing process and material planning are adjusted according to the product stage, quantity, component availability, and testing requirements.
Can you support an existing product that is already in production?
Yes. Existing production programs can be reviewed for manufacturing transfer, second-source qualification, or ongoing production in Taiwan.
Available BOMs, PCB files, assembly documentation, programming procedures, test requirements, work instructions, and existing production information can be reviewed before the first transfer build.
Can you support manufacturing transfer to Taiwan?
Yes. We can review existing production documentation and manufacturing requirements for OEM customers evaluating a Taiwan manufacturing source.
The first build can be used to verify components, PCB requirements, assembly processes, programming, testing, and documentation before repeat production is released.
Can you help review BOM sourcing risks?
Yes. We can review component availability, lifecycle status, lead times, MOQ / SPQ, sourcing restrictions, and potential second-source components.
If an alternative component is required, the proposed change is reviewed before implementation.
Can you help identify alternative components to reduce BOM cost?
Yes. Potential second-source or alternative components can be reviewed when component cost or availability is a concern.
Standard passive components may provide cost-reduction opportunities when equivalent specifications are available.
ICs, power devices, connectors, and other design-sensitive components require additional compatibility review.
Alternative components are not substituted without customer review and approval.
Can you modify the PCB layout if an alternative component is not pin-to-pin compatible?
Depending on the project and available design information, yes.
A non-pin-to-pin replacement may require footprint changes, component placement changes, routing changes, or modifications to surrounding circuitry.
For function-critical components, schematic, electrical, thermal, firmware, and mechanical requirements may also need to be reviewed.
The engineering scope is evaluated before changes are made.
Do you provide programming and functional testing?
Yes. Depending on project requirements, support may include IC / MCU programming, firmware loading, power-on verification, ICT, functional testing, customer-defined test procedures, and test fixture integration.
Can you design test fixtures according to our test procedure?
Depending on the product and test requirements, yes.
Our engineering team can review customer-provided test procedures, test points, operating conditions, required measurements, communication interfaces, programming requirements, and pass/fail criteria.
Where required, a test fixture can be designed and built for the agreed production test process.
If an existing fixture or fixture design is available, we can also evaluate how it can be integrated into our manufacturing process.
Test fixture development scope and applicable NRE or development costs are reviewed before implementation.
Do you support turnkey, partial-turnkey, and consigned manufacturing?
Yes.
For turnkey projects, we manage the agreed PCB and component procurement requirements.
For partial-turnkey projects, the customer may supply selected components while we source the remaining materials.
For consigned manufacturing, the customer supplies some or all materials while we provide the agreed manufacturing services.
Can you support long-term OEM manufacturing programs?
Yes. We support OEM customers from prototype and NPI through repeat production.
Production planning is based on actual order quantities, component availability, testing requirements, forecast demand, and delivery schedules.
Can you sign an NDA?
Yes. A mutual NDA can be executed before confidential project information is reviewed when required.
